Forty years as a hairstylist, and Maria still couldn't stop her own hair breaking overnight. So she went back to her roots — a silk wrapping ritual passed down through her Caribbean heritage — and built the fix herself.

In 2016 she and her daughter Christine launched the original SILKE Hair Wrap — and created the silk hair tools category.
