6 Hair Trends That Will Be Everywhere in 2025

6 Hair Trends That Will Be Everywhere in 2025

2025 is nearly here, and with a new year comes a new opportunity to bookmark plenty of hair and beauty inspiration. Here at SILKE London HQ we’ve scouted inspiration from some of our favourite tastemakers and SS25 runway shows and banked it so you can cash them in at your forthcoming hair appointments.

New Year is the perfect time to get inspired, make a change and switch up the vibe, in the words of Coco Chanel:

“A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life!”

In true SILKE London fashion, we’ve not just grouped together a mood board, but we’ve also laid out exactly how you’re going to achieve and maintain the ‘new you’.

TREND 1: Big, Big Hair

2025 brings with it big, big hair. Gone are the days of super flat, sleek, boho lengths, it’s all about the volume.

One of our favourite rising stars, Chappell Roan, made her SNL debut and her hair, along with her fame and notoriety, seem to be rapidly growing in size! Of course, Chappell wore an oversized wig for this occasion, but the essence of her larger-than-life locks serves as great inspiration for the styling choices we’re about to make into this New Year.

Maria Sotiriou, co-founder of SILKE London and hair stylist with over 37 years of experience explains how you can achieve extra volume with no extra effort whilst you sleep:

“When you pop your SILKE Hair Wrap on at night, not only does it act as a physical barrier against damage caused by your abrasive pillow whilst working its magic boosting your hair’s health and hydration, but it can also give you a boost of volume come morning.

No matter your hair type you want to aim to position your hair at the very top of your head, towards your hair line in either a loose bun, or pony if you have curls. Secure it with a 100% silk SILKE Hair Tie, then pop your chosen Hair Wrap over the top. When you wake up in the morning and take your Hair Wrap off, gently take down your loose bun or pony and you’ll notice an instant, natural lift at the roots. Give those roots a quick spritz with your favourite hairspray for hold and viola, easy, quick volume that doesn't require any extra time, effort, or battle with your heated tools!”.

TREND 2: Barbie Blow-Out

Whether you’re still not over the Barbie Movie hype or you’re more of a Polly Pocket fan, the influence Sabrina Carpenter’s perfectly doll-like blow-outs are having on 2025 hair trends is undeniable. It’s such an aesthetically beautiful look there’s no way we’d want to deny it either!

This is another style that can be enjoyed by many different hair types and textures, whatever you’re working with in regards to how your hair naturally falls will depend on which way you take on this look. Regardless of whether you have long lengths like Sabrina, have shorter hair or curls, a soft, layered haircut to connect everything, making the overall look easy to style, is preferable. We love Sabrina’s bangs and how they seamlessly connect to her large bouncy curls at the back, but this look can also be done with any parting, anyway, with the help of those soft, face-flattering layers.

Maria explains how you can get this look with little to no effort, and most surprisingly, no heat! She says:

“It’s now possible to completely ditch the heat and still achieve the biggest, bounciest, ‘fresh out the salon’ Sabrina Carpenter curls. Curling irons can damage 85% of your hair’s keratin proteins, causing it to become brittle and dry. If you’re trying to heal your hair from damage, or looking to prevent it whilst improving the overall thickness, length and general health of your hair, the biggest step you can take in your hair routine is to go heatless, or be as intentional with the heat you’re using as possible!

Now, thanks to the SILKE Heatless Curler Kit you don’t have to fry your hair to get great curls. Just wrap your lengths around the curling rod and relax, finish getting ready or sleep and let our silk do its magic. I would use this method to style post-hair wash and also top up my curls if they need a boost before a big event or festive party.

I’ve also seen a lot of discourse online around the heatless curls method causing breakage, and 9 times out of 10 this will be down to the rod or tool you’re using to create the curls. Many people are opting to utilise TikTok viral products or things they have at home such as dressing gown belts or socks, which can work to initially create curls but are all made from abrasive fabrics so will actively absorb all the moisture from your hair whilst you’re wearing them resulting in unwanted damage and snapping. To prevent this, simply opt for a 100% silk version. Silk is an ancient fabric that has amazing natural properties, it actually gives to the hair rather than taking away so it’s a perfect option when it comes to combining the two to create bouncy curls!”

TREND 3: Extra Long Mermaid Waves

From the likes of pop music’s biggest ‘it girl’, Charli XCX, to the runway at Collina Strada during New York’s SS25 fashion week, extra long lengths cocktailed with soft, sweeping mermaid waves is the combination of the moment.

Whether you opt into the long game of growing your hair, or a quick hair extensions appointment, long hair requires love and attention to stay healthy and continue looking its best. One of the main issues when it comes to very long hair is damage caused by tangling and knotting, especially when it comes to bedtime. Maria recommends always braiding long lengths into a loose braid, securing with a Hair Tie, and then tucking neatly into a Hair Wrap before you go to sleep. This not only prevents tangling and acts as a physical barrier between your uber long locks and your bedding, but also doubles as a clever heatless styling method as the mermaid waves will produce themselves, thanks to the combination of the braid and heat generated from your head, come morning. Simply opt for one large braid for looser waves, or multiple smaller braids for a tighter mermaid wave effect. The more ‘natural and undone’ the wave the more fitting for this whimsical trend, so no pressure to produce perfect waves for this one!

Environmental damage can also be a problem for longer lengths. It’ll naturally get stuck between clothing, rub against abrasive fabrics and get tangled on objects far more than a shorter haircut. Did you know that if you lay on your lengths not only are you submitting your hair to damage from the abrasive fabric it’s sandwiched against, but you’re also exasperating the damage to your hair because of the heat your body produces? Where possible, keep those lengths braided and out of harm's way!

TREND 4: Pixie Bob

2024 has proven that the bob is a staple trend and a style that will be reinvented over and over each season. This 2025 we’re predicting a mega trend hybrid will emerge as the bob collaborates with the pixie cut to create a super short, sleek option that’s easy to wear day to day, but can also look stunningly glamorous for bigger events.

We are obsessed with this version from Anok Yai, especially how she’s opted for a highly styled, glossy version of the look. An element of this style that’s fun is how you can position and shape the front of the haircut to frame the face. This may seem daring for some, but a short haircut can sometimes be the easiest to manage and style in a time crunch.

For day to day inspiration we love Nara Smith’s version which is slightly longer and is sometimes styled with an extreme flick through the ends to give a bouncy feel. Again, this wouldn’t take much time or effort to style but the result is really polished.

For more versions of the style to draw inspiration from Maria recommends looking to the past to the likes of Audrey Hepburn, she’s done many versions of this look, some of our favourites are how she incorporates curls into the styling, similar to how Anok frames her face in the modern version.

TREND 5: Homegrown Blonde

Blondes are leaning away from high contrast platinum and cool shades which have dominated previous seasonal trends, and are opting for more ‘natural’ hues. It’s a balance between natural colour with a little bit of enhancement to make the overall colour more luminous, light reflecting and dimensional. Stars such as Addison Rae have been showcasing what we’re naming ‘Homegrown Blonde’ recently, and we can’t get enough of it. The beauty of this colour trend is that it looks like it could be natural, but it’s so perfect it’s probably not!

Even if you’re planning to opt for ‘homegrown blonde’ for your next colour appointment, it’s likely still going to include bleach. The best way to prep for this is as Maria explains:

The most important thing you need to pay attention to pre-colour appointment is your hair’s hydration. The more hydrated your hair is to start with, the better your colour service is going to go!"

To make this colour look naturally gorgeous in the long term you’ll need to make sure the hair stays super healthy and hydrated to maintain that shine and luminosity that makes this colour pop. Maria explains why that doesn’t have to be hard work:

“Wearing your Hair Wrap nightly will help to keep your cuticles flat and supple, locking in hydration. The amazing natural properties of 100% silk work to utilise the natural oils being produced at the scalp, and instead of letting your roots hoard it all creating an unwanted greasy look, cocooning your hair in silk encourages these oils to be evenly distributed from root to tip, allowing your dryer more porous ends, to benefit from the moisture and hydration creating your hair’s very own hydration ecosystem. If you wear your Hair Wrap every night you really shouldn’t have to reach for very many additional hydrating products or treatments!”

TREND 6: Back To The Classics

From interiors to fashion and beauty we’re seeing a resurgence of nostalgia and a yearning for the return of an old Hollywood style in all its high glamour.

Dita Von Teese has been the leading lady when it comes to glamour in our modern life time, so her iconic hairstyling is an obvious reference when it comes to inspiration for this trend. Dita takes her own inspiration from old Hollywood, Burlesque and fetish models, molding them all together to create a mashup of the best vintage styles that she wears today.

She utilises old school methods like a heated roller set and brush out for her Hollywood waves, which we would argue isn’t 100% necessary in 2025 as the same can be achieved with a Heatless Curler Kit with zero damage if you apply a little more time to it.

One thing about the Hollywood hair set method is that once you’ve gone to the trouble of getting it to set, you have to work hard to maintain the styling as it’s incredibly hard to touch up or redo once it’s gone askew. Maria recommends utilising a Hair Wrap to preserve this kind of styling allowing it to go the distance. It’s also best suited to a smooth, shiny hair finish which the Hair Wrap lends itself to!

The Hair Wrap’s are also designed with beauty and glamour in mind so you can look and feel put together whilst wearing it around the house, to bed, or even out and about. Preserving and creating your hairstyle has never looked or felt better!
