Autumn Hair Trends That Should Be On Your Radar

Whilst summer is still upon us, at SILKE HQ, we’re always ready for the next trend ready to take over our algorithms. When it comes to hair trends, we know things can move fast, and with what’s ahead for this Autumn, we’re not disappointed!

Luckily, our experts are on hand to break down the trends, how to get them, and how to keep your hair in tip top condition whilst you achieve and rock them. Whilst you’re booking in those all important hair and colour appointments over the next few weeks and months, we’d recommend you keep these in mind and get planning for your new season hair upgrade!

Cherry Red

It’s bold, but it’s so beautiful. Cherry Red is going to be the colour for those looking to push their trend limits and make a statement this Autumn.

We’re obsessed with Dua Lipa’s Cherry Red hair revival, but we can’t resist a throwback to Rihanna’s red hair era as the most iconic reference.

When you’re looking to transform with a whole new colour it’s important to keep your hair protected pre and post colour appointment to avoid dehydration and fading, there’s nothing worse than leaving the salon with the perfect tone, only for it to disappear, especially for a colour in the red’s family that’re prone to fading!

Wearing your SILKE Hair Wrap each night will ensure that your colour remains fresh and fade free for longer. It’ll also ensure that the natural oils from your scalp are being utilised to hydrate your dry ends post-colouring. Our co-founder Maria Sotiriou is a hair expert and stylist with over 37 years of experience, and she believes that in order to get the most out of your colour appointment you have to put the work into your hair in the run up, she explains:

“The most important thing you need to pay attention to pre-colour appointment is your hair’s hydration. The more hydrated your hair is to start with, the better your colour service is going to go! This can be achieved by utilising professional, quality products that state they’re for hydration or moisture. I like to make sure I have those across every part of my hair wash routine including my shampoo, conditioner and masks for maximum efficiency.

Also by wearing your Hair Wrap nightly, it will help to keep your cuticles flat and supple, locking in hydration. The amazing natural properties of 100% silk work to utilise the natural oils being produced at the scalp, and instead of letting your roots hoard it all creating an unwanted greasy look, cocooning your hair in silk encourages these oils to be evenly distributed from root to tip, allowing your dryer more porous ends, to benefit from the moisture and hydration creating your hair’s very own hydration ecosystem. If you wear your Hair Wrap every night you really shouldn’t have to reach for very many additional hydrating products or treatments!”

Nara Knotless Braids

Knotless braids are nothing new, we’ve seen celebs such as Zoe Kravitz and Zendaya walking red carpets in them for seasons, but recently they’ve taken on a new life thanks to mum and Tik Tok sensation, Nara Smith. She explained to her audience that she was getting eczema and a very dry scalp, so she opted for braids ahead of her more recent pregnancy for ease - and we love them!

The super fine option looks great worn down, but are so versatile when it comes to wearing up-do’s as well, we recommend opting for a SILKE London Hair Tie when popping your braids up. They’re made from 100% mulberry silk to help you avoid any snapping, snagging or kinks in your braids as you take your hair down and put it back up again!

Wearing your SILKE London Hair Wrap nightly will help keep frizz at bay and keep your hair hydrated whilst in a protective style. As the Hair Wrap acts as a physical barrier between your braids and the abrasive fabrics of your pillowcases and bedding, cocooning your hair in 100% silk can help this style go the distance, looking fresher for longer. Anyone who’s worn this style will know, they can take a while to install, so giving them a helping hand when it comes to lasting is always a favourable option.

Volume Curtain Bangs

Anyone else can’t get ‘Espresso’ out of their head? Let’s just say it’s Sabrina Carpenter’s world, and we’re just living in it. With that, following her viral Coachella set and music videos, bangs have been having a moment for a while and we’re here to tell you that they’re not going anywhere. Also rocked my Selena Gomez and Emily Ratajkowski, this trend is the non-committal way to frame your face, with the grow-out phase being less offensive than other styles. The big question is, how do you style them? Whether you’re going for the Sabrina’s signature swoop (which can be achieved with a blow-dryer and a round brush) or just a bit of volume, we’d suggest grabbing your SILKE Heatless Curler. By using it as a roller, rolling it towards your face before using the clip provided to secure it in place, wrapping the rest of your hair round and leaving it for a few hours, you can achieve all the volume as from a heated tool, but with none of the damage. Once you take out the curler, simply brush out the curls until you achieve your desired look (leaving a bit of room for curls to drop) and you’ll be left with a completely on-trend bouncy blow out. The experts at SILKE recommend that this style works best on normal to full hair, with a slight wave. The danger if your hair is too thin is that you won’t achieve the bounce to pull off the look.

Honey Pot Blonde

Honey Pot Blonde, or Rihanna Blonde, as we’ll be calling it for the foreseeable future, is the perfect warm toned, deliciously rich shade for Autumn.

Rihanna set the trend at Coachella where she stepped out with her fresh blonde hair, glowing like she’s never glowed before (we’re still not sure how that was possible!), but now all our hair aspirations are pointing up the colour lift chart! Or, if you’re already blonde, looking more towards those warmer, richer tones.

The best part about this colour is that it’s easily adapted to everyone, no matter your current hair colour, skin tone, or texture, your colourist will be able to whip up a custom version that works perfectly for you.

Maria recommends that post colour appointment you continue wearing your Hair Wrap nightly to keep your hair moisturised, shiny, and keep colour fade at bay. She’d also recommends keeping heat to an absolute minimum and one of the easiest ways to cut heat is by using the SILKE London Heatless Curler Kit overnight to create bouncy, blown out curls, minus the hot tools with ease. Doing this won’t only boost your hair's overall health and shine, but it will ensure the colour you love goes that extra mile for you.
